Personal Bio

Gabriel graduated in Spring 2025 from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in chemistry. He has been conducting research with the Xiao lab since May 2023 and is continuing with the group to pursue his Ph.D.

Research Summary

Gabriel’s research focuses on the characterization of small-molecule binding aptamers and their implementation into sensitive and selective sensors. He works with gold-standard and novel methods to investigate the binding properties of new aptamer sequences generated in the Xiao lab. Additionally, he works on colorimetric dye-displacement assays for the detection of illicit small-molecule analytes such as fentanyl.
