Personal Bio 

Alexandra is a graduate student and joined Dr. Xiao’s lab in August of 2021 after graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Georgia Southern University. At GSU, she worked as a general chemistry student instructor and was an undergraduate research student under the guidance of Dr. Brandon Quillian, where she studied the reactivity of organometallic molecules. She has since then become interested in analytical chemistry. In her free time, she enjoys reading and being outside in nature.

Research Summary 

Alexandra’s research focuses primarily on the development of electrochemical aptamer based sensors for the detection of small molecules and proteins, as well as aptamer characterization through the exonuclease digestion and strand displacement assays.
