Personal Bio

Thinh is from Vietnam where she obtained both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Science – Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. Her research focused on chromatography, chemometrics, and nanomaterials under the guidance of Professor Anh-Mai Nguyen and Dr. Tien-Giang Nguyen. During her Master’s program, she also participated in research programs at Tsing Hua University in Taiwan, supervised by Professor Hsing-Wen Sung , and at Kyoto Institute of Technology in Japan, under the mentorship of Professor Noriaki Ikeda.

Research Summary

Thinh’s research focuses on the isolation of aptamers that bind to small-molecule analytes such as amino acids and hormones. The objective is to identify sequences with high affinity and specificity that meet the stringent criteria for practical applications. Beyond aptamer selection, she also develops sensitive and specific sensors based on dye displacement assays, aimed at detecting illicit substances—most notably cocaine—with precision and reliability.
